Russellville company continues inland waterway work with Army Corps of Engineers

G&G Steel Inc., Russellville, Alabama, was awarded a contract to fabricate, assemble and deliver one upstream miter gate with two leaves and the associated equipment.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville, Kentucky, is the contracting agency.

The $18 million award adds to a total cumulative face value of a $38.7 million contract. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 15, 2028.

G&G has worked with the Army Corps of Engineers for four decades, company materials state. “G&G has fabricated a variety of hydraulic steel structures for locks and dams all over the United States.

“Fabrications for (the corps) include different sizes of stoplogs/bulkheads, miter gates, tainter gates, slide gates, culvert valves, mooring bits and other miscellaneous fabrications/machinery for the inland waterway systems.”

G&G Steel, Inc. was incorporated in 1975.

Hydraulic steel structures for the Corps of Engineers and heavy moveable bridge structures/machinery are just two of the primary industries for G&G.

“We also specialize in the fabrication of industrial furnaces for the aluminum and steel industries, grinding mills and kilns for the cement, gold mine and lime industries. G&G Steel has also fabricated various structures and tooling used in the aerospace industry and mining industry,” its materials state.

The home office is situated on 27 acres in the Russellville industrial park.

G&G also has operations to Cordova, Alabama, (Warrior River Steel) and to Iuka, Mississippi, (G&G Steel Mississippi Works). The locations in Cordova and Iuka provide access for shipping by rail or inland waterway.
