HUNTSVILLE – The U.S. Air Force has awarded Alabama-based Torch Technologies Inc. an almost $1 billion contract to provide technical and management advisory services at the Air Force Test Center, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
The work includes providing support for aerospace research, development, test and evaluation activities.
The 96th Test Wing at Eglin serves as host at the test and evaluation center for Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, command and control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems.
The War Department announced the Torch contract this week, totaling more than $992.4 million, with work expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2031.

The Air Force Test Center, Eglin AFB, Florida, is the contracting agency.
“This award marks a significant milestone for Torch Technologies and our support at Eglin Air Force Base,” Torch President Brad Walker told AlaDefense.com.
“Our journey at Eglin Air Force Base began in 2016 with a foundational $186 million TMAS Task Order, which paved the way for TMAS 2 in 2021. This latest achievement is a direct validation of the ‘owner’s mindset’ our employees bring to their work every day,” Walker said.

Torch, which is headquartered in Huntsville and is under parent company Star Holdings, is employee-owned with employee owners located in Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Kwajalein and Egypt, according to company documents.
“To be entrusted with technical and management advisory services for the Air Force Test Center at this scale is a responsibility we do not take lightly,” Walker said. “For Torch, this is more than a contract; it is a testament to the power of employee ownership and the trust the Air Force places in our team to deliver excellence for the superiority of our national defense.”
The company was founded in 2002.
Torch representatives celebrated the news while serving as a co-sponsor at the annual Space and Missile Defense Symposium taking place this week in Huntsville, attracting almost 10,000 attendees from all fields, including senior military and government leaders.
