WASHINGTON, D.C. – Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers, who chairs the House Armed Services Committee, today announced $949.1 million in funding will be used for military construction projects at the Anniston Army Depot.

Another $82 million was secured for an access control point and a general-purpose warehouse at the depot as part of the appropriations process.

Also, $68 million in funding is allocated for the design of the new Space Command Headquarters in Huntsville, as it undergoes transition from its initial temporary headquarters in Colorado Springs to its permanent home in Alabama.

“I am proud to announce over $949 million in funding for Anniston Army Depot,” Rogers said in a press statement.“This funding from President Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill Act is critical to ensuring continued success at Anniston Army Depot.

“I am also excited to see $68 million going to Redstone Arsenal for the design of the new, state-of-the-art Space Command Headquarters,” Rogers said. “President Trump is delivering for our national security and delivering for the state of Alabama.”

Among the projects being funded at Anniston Army Depot:

  • Component Remanufacturing Facility: $495 million
  • Small Arms Warehouse: $280.6 million
  • Vehicle Paint Shop: $69.5 million
  • Replace Buildings 293, 294, and 295: $60 million
  • Guided Missile Maintenance Building: $44 million

Meanwhile Space Command, or SPACECOM, continues to move ahead on a quickened pace to initiate its headquarters move to Huntsville, a process originally expected to take five years but now is being discussed by several officials for a three-year timeframe.

Regardless, the process will involve the relocation or recruitment of at least 1,600 personnel and a list of carefully considered infrastructure projects that ensure security and utility needs within Redstone Arsenal.

The new headquarters design, for example, must provide necessary physical space for SPACECOM, and also security measures such as cybersecurity and reliable power sources.
