US Foods Montgomery, under the parent umbrella of nationwide food distributor US Foods, has picked up a military contract that carries a potential value of almost $341 million.

The using military services are Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps; with an ordering period end date of Sept. 21, 2030.

The contract carries a maximum $340,774,144 firm-fixed-price with economic-price-adjustment, for full-line food and beverage items.

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting agency, and the Department of War announced the deal Friday (Sept. 26).

US Foods has distribution centers and other facilities throughout the nation. Its corporate headquarters is in Rosemont, Illinois

“We’ve been in business for more than 150 years, spanning five generations and building on a legacy that began with delivering supplies on wagon trains to the Western Frontier,” company materials say.

“Today, we’re a publicly traded Fortune 150 company on the New York Stock Exchange, and inside our doors you’ll find us developing leading-edge solutions to help our customers’ operations flourish,” it says.

US Foods has a long history at its Montgomery operation.

“Our history begins in 1871 when Schloss and Kahn opened their first dry goods distribution location in downtown Montgomery,” company materials state. “In the ensuing decades Schloss and Kahn grew from small dry goods purveyors to leading foodservice innovators by the mid-1950s.

“Along this journey of growth and expansion the Sunday Dinner Brand was introduced and evolved into a mainstay of Brand recognition in the state of Alabama.

“In 1965 Schloss & Kahn moved to their final location on the south side of Montgomery adjacent to Highway 80, close to the airport. Ultimately Schloss and Kahn was acquired first by PYA Monarch and subsequently by US Foods, who today owns and operates the Distribution Center on Highway 80.”
