The U.S. Army has awarded HGS Engineering Inc., headquartered in Anniston, a $49 million contract for environmental compliance and hazardous materials/hazardous waste management services.
Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 26, 2030. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District, is the contracting agency, suggesting the work might be done in Europe.
HGS Engineering, founded in 1998, describes itself as a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business and professional services consulting firm.
The company was founded in Anniston in 1998 and maintains offices in several locations across the U.S.
It has performed environmental management and/or engineering services to several federal agencies under previous contracts, including the U.S. Forest Service, Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Labor and the Department of Defense.
“Despite our small-town roots, HGS has developed into a premier professional services consulting firm, serving both the federal government and private clients across a wide range of disciplines,” its company profile states.
“Our expansive footprint encompasses multiple satellite offices throughout the country, and our experienced team members have performed environmental, health and safety services in all 50 states, 22 countries, and on six continents.”
The Army Corps of Engineers Europe District operates from several locations across Europe and is involved with a wide variety of construction and environmental management responsibilities.
It is headquartered at U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden, Germany, and the majority of its roughly 600 personnel are based there.
