The U.S. Navy has awarded COLSA Corp., an engineering and support-services company headquartered in Huntsville, a $59.4 million contract to provide engineering services supporting development, maintenance, interoperability and operations of the “data link tactical tool, gateway systems, and mini-rack systems.”

The systems use integrated components to enable communications between combat systems, aircraft and ground forces.

Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, San Diego, California, is the contracting agency for the award, which covers a five-year period ending in May 2031.

Work will be performed at government facilities in San Diego (90%) and at the contractor’s facilities in Huntsville (10%).

COLSA founder Francisco Collazo, a native of Puerto Rico, created the company in 1980 after serving 30 years in the U.S. Army.

Although headquartered in Huntsville, the company has at least a half-dozen offices scattered across the nation.
